Writing 101

To My 25-Year-Old Self

Today’s assignment is to write some form of letter. I have a bunch of those lying around from a variety of times, written in a variety of emotional states, but those are a little private to share with the whole world. Instead, I’m writing to myself. We’ll see how it goes.

Here’s hoping that some time in the next three and a half years I figure out my life.

I hope you traveled some like I want to. I want to go back to London and Italy. And I want to see Greece. So I hope those are plans that are in the works, if they haven’t happened already.

I hope we finally found my passion and we’re doing something good with regards to work. Don’t be a sell out. Don’t compromise your integrity for a job. It’s okay to walk away from things if they aren’t good for you.

Speaking of things that aren’t good for you, if you do finally find some relationship, listen to Mom and Dad and Rose. They’ve got your best interest at heart. And they know what’s good for you. Also your gut. You’re better at reading people than you think. Trust yourself. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. I’d know.

And be patient. Actually patient with yourself and the people around you. That’s a thing I’m trying to work on.

I’m sure you’re doing well.

Keep up the good work.

-Your 21-year-old self
